MedTech’s Graduation Photo Went Viral Because of “Sad Face”
Social media was entertained by a humorous post from Pel Albert Mendador, a 26-year-old from Cavite, showcasing his “sad face” expression both during his student days and after graduating from college.
“After how many years naka-graduate din! OK na po ako,” he wrote on his Facebook post.

The Story Behind the Sad Face
In an interview with various media outlets, Pel revealed that the earlier viral photo of him was taken in 2018 while he was a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology student at Holy Infant College.
“Trademark ko na kasi ‘yan na kapag nagpapa-picture, lagi akong nagpo-pose na malungkot tapos ipo-post ko,” he said.
“‘Yang picture ko po na may hawak na stethoscope is after ng practicals namin sa school way back 2018 and pagod talaga ako and may hang-over pa from the night before.”
“‘Di ko rin alam bakit pinapakinggan ko puso ko that time siguro, nag-zone out na lang rin ako noon. At that time pini-picturan na pala ako ng mga tropa ko from the other side ng room gamit din cellphone ko.”
“So wala ako idea pa no’n, nakita ko lang ‘yong pic na ‘yon sa phone ko pagkauwi ko so pinost ko siya for laughs sa Facebook ko,” he explained.

Pel is No Longer “Sad Face”
Pel shared that he no longer has a “sad face” because he is now able to pursue his passions and earn a living.
He previously worked as a Senior Radiologic Technologist Intern at United Shalom Hospital Tacloban and Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
