The Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office is currently investigating reports of non-existent students enrolled under the Senior High School (SHS) Voucher Program in 12 private schools across nine divisions.

DepEd conducts inquiry re SHS Voucher Fraudulent Scheme
DepEd is conducting a comprehensive inquiry into personnel and officials who may be involved in this fraudulent scheme, which could lead to the disqualification of the implicated schools from the SHS Voucher Program.
In line with President Bongbong Marcos’ directive to uphold transparency and accountability, DepEd is taking immediate action to safeguard the integrity of its funds and program implementation.
“We take these allegations seriously. Any misuse of public funds intended for vital education programs will not be tolerated. This investigation is a crucial step in uncovering the truth and ensuring accountability,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara.
DepEd prepares for violator schools’ accreditation cancellation
As part of its response, DepEd has begun gathering evidence and preparing for the possible revocation of the schools’ accreditation.
The Department is also considering legal actions against those found responsible, including administrative and criminal charges, in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
At the same time, DepEd assures the public that legitimate students affected by the issue will receive the necessary support to continue their education without disruption. The agency also reaffirms its commitment to strengthening monitoring systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The Senior High School (SHS) Voucher Program is a financial assistance initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines.
It allows eligible Grade 10 completers to enroll in private high schools, state universities and colleges (SUCs), local universities and colleges (LUCs), or non-DepEd public schools for their Senior High School (Grades 11 and 12) education, with part of their tuition and fees covered by government subsidies.
