The Mandaluyong City Police revealed that the 18-year-old sampaguita vendor in school uniform, featured in the viral video, is a student from Baesa, Quezon City, working to support herself financially.

The recently confirmed sampaguita girl in viral video is an intelligent student and is not involved in any syndicate.

The video gained widespread attention after showing an altercation between her and a security guard.

Police Confirms Vendor is a student

The police investigation confirmed that the vendor is indeed a student at a private school and not involved in any syndicate, debunking the rumors circulating online.

In light of the video’s viral spread, the Philippine National Police-Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (PNP-SOSIA) launched a motu proprio investigation.

During a media interview, Police Col. Mary Grace Madayag, the Mandaluyong City Police chief, shared that the vendor is selling sampaguita to meet her needs, especially after her family’s house was recently demolished.

The police described her as “intelligent,” and this was verified by the local barangay officials they spoke with.

DSWD Seeks to Provide Psychosocial Support to Student

Regarding the issue, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced plans to provide psychosocial support to the student. DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao also stated that they were directed to visit the student and her parents.

They also intend to speak with the security guard involved to address his behavior towards the children.

Manila Councilor Promises Support

Social media personality, entrepreneur, and Manila councilor candidate “Rosmar Tan” also confirmed this after video calling “Jenny” and offering her financial assistance. During their conversation, Rosmar discovered that Jenny is a First Year student studying Medical Technology.

“Sa mga nagcocomment at one sided meet Jenny ang trending na SAMPAGUITA GIRL ngayon.😩💖,” Rosmar said.

“Hindi po sya ung vics girl or what so ever na tinutukoy nyo sobrang layo ng mukha nila. Pinahanap ko sya at para mapadalhan ko ng tulong kasi naaawa ako sakanya nung napanuod ko ang video.”

“Parehas silang may mali knowing na bawal mag tinda dun pero nagtitinda pa rin sya, ginagawa lang ng guard ang trabaho nya. Un nga lang mali na sinipa at sinira ang paninda. Na para maipag patuloy ni Jenny ang pag aaral nya bilang 1st year Medtech.”

“btw iisa lang din daw ang uniform nya kaya ginagamit nya ang senior high uniform nya pag nilalabhan nya ang Uniform nya mismo. Naka video call ko sya and nakita ko mga frame na nakasabit sa bahay nila. Nag aaral talaga sya.”

“1st year college medtech and ngayon nahihiya syang lumabas dahil nacoconnect sya sa Vics girl or ibang tao.”

Rosmar said a promise to Jenny, “Sabi ko sige ako ang bahala sayo lilinisin ni ate rosmar ang pangalan mo.”
